America is waking up from the nightmare of corporate news. For decades huge companies have abused the trust of their customers. They have a powerful grip on the flow of information, and the owners of these corporate giants believe they can do or say anything without consequences. We’re here to capitalize on the reasonable concern over how the profit model creates conflicts of interest in the field of journalism, and turn it into a generalized fear that turns you away from any institutional publications, even when (if?) they have strong traditions of journalistic integrity and intellectual honesty. Our goal is to create an About section that is more straight forward and trustworthy than the for-profit media machine.
Most modern media blurs the lines of morality and truth, and the audience-capture effects of online news have fragmented reality. We have truly entered the post-truth era of information. This confusion isn’t a mistake, it is a targeted, intentional ploy by enemies of the people to dilute their considerable power. That nightmare ends today, if you reject a world that doesn’t make sense because warring information moguls are manipulating you, and instead choose a world that doesn’t make sense on purpose. Albert Camus said “The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” Welcome to the absurd!
Thankfully, our ranks are swelling. A rude awakening is taking place across this great nation of ours, as Americans become increasingly sophisticated and intellectually discriminating about their information sources. They are abandoning the matrix of corporate information and also leaving intellectual checks and balances behind because faith feels better. As their distrust in the Information Industrial Complex declines, they flock to smaller sources of varying quality looking for the truth. Not all of these sources are created equal. Some are more dangerous and purposefully misleading than their previous information overloads. Others, like this publication, are entirely made up and shouldn’t be taken seriously by anyone; the healthiest kind of news.
That’s why we created American Standard News. It is a website created by real people, not an AI algorithm. It is a news organization that values its independence, with journalists who fight on the information battlefield to bring you news that definitely is not true. Imagine the relief of not having to wonder about sources anymore!
For too long, American minds have been colonized by the enemy’s interests. American Standard News will rise to be the new standard by which all others are judged.

As a child, I had an insatiable thirst for the truth. Fictional narratives could never hold my attention like a raw and hardy news story. When I got older I took every opportunity to be involved with news organizations in high school and I eventually studied journalism at university. Later, my interest in truth-seeking took a stronger hold on my life and I began to do deep-dive investigative pieces to better understand the intricacies of the world around me. My journey has taken me to the highest highs and lowest lows of the human experience. These days I find myself drawn to the banality of everyday life and the nuances of what divides us as a national and international community.
The First Amendment’s Last Chance

I became a journalist late in my life, finding the path only after over 25 years of woodworking. I was an apprentice at 16, started boatbuilding at 18, and from there my career that became increasingly distant from the wood itself as I rose to management and later ownership of a custom furniture shop. After a decade of the shop moving toward factory production to compete with furniture conglomerates I became burned out. I got to the point where every day at 6 PM my hand would curl into a sort of alcoholic claw that fit perfectly around a rocks glass.
Then I did two hard things: I got sober and started a career in journalism. I attended Pepperdine University in my late 40s followed by training with the National Journalism Center, which boasts alumni such as Cliff Kincaid, Rachel Marsden, and Malcom Gladwell. I was drawn to the center because I believed in their values: responsible, accurate and balanced reporting.
My upcoming book, “Going Rogue, Slipping Under The Digital Curtains” (to be published by Harper Collins) is a deep dive, gonzo-style investigation and implementation of my journey to remove myself from the internet. As someone who is untethered to social media you can rely on my independent, thorough reporting.
More Content Is Better Always

My priorities in life are like those of many a great American, Faith, Country, San Jose State Spartans Football, and God. Though I might have my own myopic take on how the world turns, I really pride myself on being able to cut out the noise to find some absolute truth in whatever the news might bring, on any given day. My deepest hope is that readers, in turn, will really pride themselves, along with me, through the content that I expose to them.
My philosophy on finding the truth is as follows. 1: Take a firm and informed position on the issues, and 2: Spend so much time, in good faith debate, arguing and berating, for hours on end, anyone who might have a different viewpoint, in the hopes of coming out the other end, better off than we were before, when people first started arriving to the barbecue.
As a Communications and Cross Cultural Studies double major at SJSU, I became equipped with the skills and perspectives needed to really investigate pretty much any story, in any place, at any time. My love for investigating the unknown came from reading Dan Brown novels in college, and I was specifically spurred on to follow my interests in story telling by my CCS department chair, who once said to me in front of the class, ” Francis, you have a great gift for finding problems, where none exist”.
